CHILDREN'S RACE INFORMATION 1.5 km “KIDS RUN 1.5 Km”

Start: 18:00

Route information: The children's race of 1500 meters will start at 18:00 in front of the entrance of the Port of Methana.
The direction of the small runners will be to the exit of the city of Methana (left direction on the map).
Our little friends are invited to run on the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf along the thermal baths located at the entrance of the city.
As the small runners will approach 600 meters they will meet the small junction (small triangular flowerbed) where the 3 streets join, the 25th of March, the Chr. Maltezou and Akti Saronikou Street and will move counterclockwise at the triangular junction in the direction of the pier of the Port of Methana.
Crossing the Saronic Coast to the Port they will approach the entrance of the pier where there they will turn right with the course of the finish arch inside the pier of the Port of Methana.

Altitude profiles: In this race, there is a zero altitude profile, as the whole race is conducted at sea level.

Runners in the race: The race is open to all young athletes from 6 to 14 years old. All participants must have recently undergone the necessary medical examinations in order to prove that they are in good health. Parents of all the young participants will sign an affirmation before the race, that they are in good health and are running at their own risk!

Water supply: It will be in the finish line of the race for all our little athletes.

Deadline: The race has a time limit of 30 '- until 18:30. Runners are invited to be at the start of the race at least half an hour before the start of the race (at 17.30).

Prizes and gifts: All participants will be given a finish medal.

Participation fee: The cost of this race is 5 €.

Race timing: There will be no electronic timing in the children's race.

COMPETITION INFORMATION 5.3 km “FUN RUN 5.3 Km”

Start: 18:30

Route information: The 5.3 km race will start half an hour (18:30) after the start of the children's race.
The start of the 5.3 km race will take place in front of the entrance of the pier of the Port of Methana towards the Limnionas Beach.
Runners are invited to move on the coastal road (Saronic Coast) along the Limniona Beach.
Arriving at Limniona beach, the runners will have covered the first 1600 meters where they will make a U-turn and head to the port again from the road they came from.
Passing in front of the church of Agios Nikolaos, the runners will have covered 2500 m of the race where there will be their water supply.
Continuing their course and reaching 3000 meters (in front of the Akti Hotel) the runners will have to turn right (a volunteer will indicate their course) on Aloupi Street.
In the first alley the runners will have to turn left and move to Chr. Maltezou (a volunteer will point out their course).
Traveling the entire length of Chr. Maltese runners reaching the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf will turn left and the first alley to the right, and will move parallel to the Marina of Boats and in the direction of the Island (Church of Agios Anargyros).
The runners will move around the island and then parallel to the beach until they return to the Saronic Coast in the direction of the finish.
Arriving at the entrance of the pier of the Port, the runners will have to turn right to pass the Finishing Arch.
The route is an asphalt terrain, along the entire length of the route of 5.3 km.

Altitude profiles: In this race, there is zero altitude

Runners participating in the race: The race is open to anyone who has reached the age of 15 years old. All participants must have recently undergone the necessary medical examinations in order to prove that they are in good health. Parents of all the young participants will sign an affirmation before the race, that they are in good health and are racing in their own risk.

Water supply: There will be 1 water supply point on the route at 2500 m. In front of the church of Agios Nikolaos.

Deadline: The race has a time limit of completion at 1 hour - until 20:00.

Runners are invited to be at the start of the race at least half an hour before the start of the race (at 18.00).

Prizes and gifts: All participants will be given a rare and original medal. Trophies will be given to the first 3 men and the first 3 women of the general category.

Participation fee: The cost of this match is € 10.

Race timing: There will be electronic timing in the race with a timing chip.

TRAIL RUN RACE INFORMATION 12 km.

Start: 09:30

Route information: The 12 km trail run will start from the Port of Methana in front of the entrance of the pier of the Port towards the entrance to Methana (turn right on the Map).
The finish of this race will be like everyone else in the pier of the Port of Methana.
The route of the mountain race 12 km for most of its route consists of brick paths (some dating from the Mycenaean Era) and wild paths which are marked with the aim of the best possible marking so that no runner is lost in the effort and everyone to be able to enjoy this special race.
There are small sections of the route that runners will have to run on dirt and asphalt roads. A detailed description will soon be available on the race website.

Altitude profiles: You start from the height of the sea level and reach up to +545 meters altitude, and then you end up again at sea level where you end at the Port of Methana. Altitude difference will be announced in a newer announcement.

Hours: 09:30 a.m.

Race safety: There will be volunteers and rescuers on the track, in order to assist athletes, where and when needed.

Runners participating in the race: The race is open to all who have reached the age of 18, and have recently undergone the necessary medical examinations that prove that they are in good health. All participants will sign an affirmation before the race, that they are in good health and are running at their own risk!

Food - Water supply: The food and water supply will be announced in detail in the next announcement.

Medical - coverage: On the route of the race there will be experienced rescuers as well as a doctor at the Port of Methana along with the presence of an ambulance on hand, in case of need. The race is also covered by a special team that has radios, in order to inform the race leaders at any time about anything needed. There will also be nursing staff, physiotherapists and a fire truck.

Time limit: The race has a time limit of 3:00 hours (until 12.30).

Runners are invited to be at the start of the race at least half an hour before the start of the race (at 09:00).

Prizes and gifts: All participants will be given a rare and original medal. Trophies will be given to the first 3 men and the first 3 women of the general category, as well as to the following age categories:

The route of the mountain race is 24 km and for most of its route consists of brick paths (some dating from the Mycenaean Era) and wild paths which are marked so that no runner is lost in the effort and everyone to be able to enjoy this special race.
There are small sections of the route that runners will have to run on dirt and asphalt roads.

Altitude profiles: You start from the height of the sea level and reach up to 735 meters altitude, and then you end up again at sea level where you end at the Port of Methana. Altitude difference will be announced in a newer announcement.

Runners participating in the race: The race is open to all who have reached the age of 18, and have recently undergone the necessary medical examinations in order to prove that they are in good health. TWO-DAY GENERAL INFORMATION

SATURDAY 23/10/2021 - 21:00: The Organizing Committee will organize before the race the established Pasta Party.

After the race: After the race snacks, local delicacies, bananas and water will be offered to all runners.

Distribution of BIB Number numbers: The registration office of the race will operate at the Cultural Center of Methana on the following days and hours:

- at Saturday 23/10/2021 from 12: 00-19: 30

-on Sunday 21/10/2021 from 07:30 - 09:00. (At the Start of the Race at the Port of Methana)

The runners are invited to be at the starting point of their respective race up at least half an hour before the start of the race they participate in (at 08:30).

Locker rooms - storage area for athletes: In an area next to the start-finish line in the center of the village, runners will be able to change and safely store their belongings, at their own risk.

REGULATIONS
I. STATEMENT OF PARTICIPATION & ACCEPTANCE

By registering, the respective athlete accepts the rules of all the races of the two-day event Methana Volcano Challenge.
Every athlete must know and respect the rules set by the Organizers and also obey the instructions of the organizing committee of the race.
Also, every athlete must be aware and accept that he will run in a mountainous environment, with inaccessible terrain, steep uphill and downhill slopes and during the race he will be exposed to any weather conditions prevailing in the area on the day of the event.

II. ATHLETE NUMBER.

All athletes will receive a participation number and a timing chip. Every athlete is required to have the entry number on the front of their shirt and in a prominent place. The number may not be folded or altered in any way.

III. MOVING IN THE PATHS:

Athletes are required to move on the trail without forming groups that extend in width, thus preventing athletes who would like to overtake. When an athlete is notified that he has to do on the edge to overtake, he should remain on the uphill (inner) side of the slope.

IV. EXTERNAL ASSISTANCE / ACCOMPANYING ATHLETES:

Any external assistance to athletes is prohibited, the only ones who can help are the volunteers at key points of the race and only for matters of direction and proper continuity of the athlete. . It is not allowed to accompany the athletes by persons who do not have a race number. Accompanying an athlete is considered external support and is punishable by exclusion of the athlete. The escort of the athlete by familiar persons in the last meters of the route is allowed.

V. WASTE / ECOLOGICAL CONSCIOUSNESS

As this race has an ecological character (ECO FRIENDLY) .It is strictly PROHIBITED to discard any packaging material along the route. At the water supply stations there will be paper cups for your hydration which you are not allowed to carry with you after the departure from the station. There will be recycling bins at each station.

VI. EQUIPMENT.

Without being obligatory, the Organization recommends the use of a backpack with water tanks or a water bag as well as an emergency whistle, a mobile phone and solid food, a windproof jacket and an elastic bandage. The above tips apply to all athletes of both trail run distances.

VII. PENALTIES.

All of the following offenses carry the penalty of exclusion:

VIII. SECURITY.

The Organizing Committee during the races, is going to supervise the paths, as much as possible, with specialized staff (rescuers, Samaritans, physiotherapists) to avoid anything that might go wrong and provides medical assistance to athletes in need. Fire truck will be located at a selected location.

IX. ROUTE MODIFICATION.

The Organizing Committee may modify the routes if for any reason there is a risk to the safety of the athletes. It can also delay the start or cancel or postpone the race due to bad weather or other force majeure.

X. AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to amend these rules of the race without prior notice if deemed necessary. In no circumstances any of those changes will alterate the type of the races.

XI. ADVERTISING.

With the application form, each athlete allows the organization to be photographed and videotaped during the race and the awards ceremony, for advertising purposes.

XII. LIABILITY DISCLAIMER.

The Organizing Committee is not responsible for the death, injury or any health problem of the participants. By submitting the application state they declare that they know the dangers of moving in a mountain environment, have the appropriate experience of participating in mountain races and that their state of health is in such condition that allows them to compete. Every athlete is obliged to have regular preventive medical examinations. The organizer reserves the right not to allow an athlete to complete the race if there is a relevant opinion of the race doctor. Athletes' insurance is borne by them.

Epilogue:

For the first year, we are waiting for you at the two-day "Methana Volcano Challenge" on the beautiful Methana Peninsula in order to get to know the natural beauty of the place and the hospitality of the locals, but most importantly "to run in the shadow of the Volcano".

Parents of all the young participants will sign an affirmation before the race, that they are in good health and are running at their own risk!

Water supply:

It will be in the Finish of the race for all our little athletes.

Deadline:

The race has a time limit of 30 '- until 18:30. Runners are invited to be at the start of the race at least half an hour before the start of the race (at 17.30).

Categories:

There will be no separate age categories in this race as well as no electronic timing.

Prizes and gifts:

All participants will be given a finish medal.

I. STATEMENT OF PARTICIPATION & ACCEPTANCE

By registering, the respective athlete accepts the rules of all the races of the two-day event Methana Volcano Challenge.
Every athlete must know and respect the rules set by the Organizers and also obey the instructions of the organizing committee of the race.
Also, every athlete must be aware and accept that he will run in a mountainous environment, with inaccessible terrain, steep uphill and downhill slopes and during the race he will be exposed to any weather conditions prevailing in the area on the day of the event.

II. ATHLETE NUMBER.

All athletes will receive a participation number and a timing chip. Every athlete is required to have the entry number on the front of their shirt and in a prominent place. The number may not be folded or altered in any way.

III. MOVING IN THE PATHS:

Athletes are required to move on the trail without forming groups that extend in width, thus preventing athletes who would like to overtake. When an athlete is notified that he has to do on the edge to overtake, he should remain on the uphill (inner) side of the slope.

IV. EXTERNAL ASSISTANCE / ACCOMPANYING ATHLETES:

Any external assistance to athletes is prohibited, the only ones who can help are the volunteers at key points of the race and only for matters of direction and proper continuity of the athlete. . It is not allowed to accompany the athletes by persons who do not have a race number. Accompanying an athlete is considered external support and is punishable by exclusion of the athlete. The escort of the athlete by familiar persons in the last meters of the route is allowed.

V. WASTE / ECOLOGICAL CONSCIOUSNESS

As this race has an ecological character (ECO FRIENDLY) It is strictly PROHIBITED to discard any packaging material along the route. At the water supply stations there will be paper cups for your hydration which you are not allowed to carry with you after the departure from the station. There will be recycling bins at each station.

VI. EQUIPMENT.

Without being obligatory, the Organization recommends the use of a backpack with water tanks or a water bag as well as an emergency whistle, a mobile phone and solid food, a windproof jacket and an elastic bandage. The above tips apply to all athletes of both trail run distances.

VII. PENALTIES.

All of the following offenses carry the penalty of exclusion:

VIII. SECURITY.

The Organizing Committee during the races, is going to supervise the paths, as much as possible, with specialized staff (rescuers, Samaritans, physiotherapists) to avoid anything that might go wrong and provides medical assistance to athletes in need. Fire truck will be located at a selected location.

IX. ROUTE MODIFICATION.

The Organizing Committee may modify the routes if for any reason there is a risk to the safety of the athletes. It can also delay the start or cancel or postpone the race due to bad weather or other force majeure.

X. AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to amend these rules of the race without prior notice if deemed necessary. In no circumstances any of those changes will alterate the type of the races.

XI. ADVERTISING.

With the application form, each athlete allows the organization to be photographed and videotaped during the race and the awards ceremony, for advertising purposes.

XII. LIABILITY DISCLAIMER.

The Organizing Committee is not responsible for the death, injury or any health problem of the participants. By submitting the application state they declare that they know the dangers of moving in a mountain environment, have the appropriate experience of participating in mountain races and that their state of health is in such condition that allows them to compete. Every athlete is obliged to have regular preventive medical examinations. The organizer reserves the right not to allow an athlete to complete the race if there is a relevant opinion of the race doctor. Athletes' insurance is borne by them.

Epilogue:

For the first year, we are waiting for you at the two-day "Methana Volcano Challenge" on the beautiful Methana Peninsula in order to get to know the natural beauty of the place and the hospitality of the locals, but most importantly "to run in the shadow of the Volcano".
